Position Summary

This is a responsible professional nursing position involved in the planning, organizing, supervising, assisting and providing of nursing care to the developmentally disabled population.

 

The Work You Will Do 

Supervision, Evaluation and Discipline:

Assumes ultimate responsibility for all nursing care delivered on evening shift; directs, plans, supervises assignments of all evening shift nursing personnel to ensure coverage; in coordination of the day shift SRNSs plans workloads, workflows, deadlines work objectives and time utilization with employees; serves as immediate supervisor of nurses on evening shift. Communicates regularly with staff regarding progress, changes in policy and procedure to include holding formal staff meetings on a regular basis; supervises the completion of nursing assessments, nursing progress notes, individual treatment, and nursing care plans in accordance with standards; participates with day shift SRNSs in interviews and makes employment recommendations; attends supervisory meetings as scheduled to facilitate communication and continuity of care. Performs time submission approvals and responsible for approval process in subordinates’ requests for scheduled leave.

 

Monitoring and Auditing:

Monitors the delivery of nursing care in terms of established standards through cottage/house rounds and inspections, staff and Resident contacts, reviewing communication records and charts; monitors equipment and supply usage and assures that required equipment and supplies necessary for performing nursing procedures and activities are available, functioning efficiently and in good repair; participates in Quality Assurance activities including infection control; monitors work performance of subordinate staff to support performance appraisals; investigates accidents and incidents as indicated. monitor subordinates work performance, maintain an employee portfolio, and perform evaluations, provide counseling with consultation of the END to include recommending disciplinary action if necessary.

 

Direct Care/Treatment:

Participates in direct care of Residents served to include attending emergencies, administering, and recording medications and treatments, assisting physician in care, assisting in nursing assessments and treatment plan development, participating in active treatment, perform medication and chart reviews.

 

Communication and Professional Growth:

Serves on and participates in committees as assigned; communicates with other disciplines/SRNSs in determining needs of Residents, reports to the Executive Nursing Director in a fluent form,  participates in shift reports, develops and presents nursing in-service training to direct care staff and other nursing staff; encourages staff participation in in-service training; attends training, conferences and seminars and other continuing education activities to maintain and improve professional competencies.

Will rotate in on-call coverage for center.

 

Perform other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.

 

At least one year of supervisory experience over employees.

  • Ability to coordinate and evaluate a specialized or educational nursing program.

Background Screening Requirement
