Part Time: OPS Licensed Practical Nurse Duties & Responsibilities

29 hours per week while school is in session with no benefits package

Licensed Practical Nurse license required

Current CPR / First Aid Certification required

Pediatric, School Health and recent clinical experience preferred

    • Employee will provide basic nursing services as allowed by LPN scope of practice to students under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
    • Administers first aid, daily medications, and emergency medications to students and/or staff as requested and ordered by a physician.
    • Provides needed health care procedures to students as trained by their Community Health Nursing Supervisor. These include but are not limited to intermittent clean catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, and monitoring blood glucose.
    • Organize and assist with state mandated health screenings such as hearing/ vision, scoliosis, and body mass index.
    • Maintains clean health unit/work area and does periodic inventory of medical supplies needed. 
    • Maintains accurate records/documentation of all work performed.
    • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with all staff members.
    • Attend School Health in-services as scheduled.
    • Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
