The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives.

Under the direction of Agency Secretary Simone Marstiller, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation. Current Agency initiatives include implementing Florida’s groundbreaking Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida’s healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the cost of health care services.

Position Overview:

 

This position may require extensive travel, including significant overnight travel. 

 

Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is a condition of employment.

 

The primary function of this position is to provide a high level of professional expertise to a complex multi-program survey process.  This survey process will include all responsibilities for state licensure of medical laboratories in Florida and also include responsibilities for the certification requirements to participate under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).  This position will be required to conduct on-site inspections of clinical laboratories, performing these duties as a team member, or individually as assigned. 

The incumbent will document findings and complete written reports of survey findings. Other duties may include inspections of other health care providers and development of technical reports and training, as assigned. 

 

The incumbent must be proficient with computer equipment and software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as smart phone technology.

 

The incumbent must also be available to work before and after normal work hours including weekends and holidays.

This position is to be filled at the salary of $ 1,954.17 Biweekly.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the terminology, principles, techniques and equipment used in clinical analysis and testing.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with professional laboratory personnel and providers of laboratory services.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to analyze data and compile reports, and knowledge of laboratory operations.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules and regulations relating to clinical laboratories.
  • Ability to utilize microcomputer equipment and software to enter, retrieve and manipulate data required to perform licensure and certification functions.
  • Ability to lift a laptop/ tablet computer and work manuals with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to work before and after normal work hours, including weekends and holidays.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of experience working with medical laboratory procedures in a medical laboratory.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Biological Science or Clinical Laboratory is preferred.

Preference given to an American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensed in the State of Florida, or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
