POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Miami Regional Operations Center (MROC), reporting to the Information Services and Training sections. This is a full-time position that is responsible for investigative evidence, training and administrative support. The position requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Acting as primary evidence custodian for MROC Evidence Intake Section which includes collection, describing, packaging and safekeeping of evidence submitted into the evidence room;
- Maintaining and managing the evidence vault to include mandated and periodic audits, destructions and inspections as well as maintenance of files associated with each piece of evidence;
- Communicating with Agents on matters of proper evidence handling and packaging, as well as ensuring compliance with Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) policy and procedures and accreditation standards;
- Maintaining the integrity of the evidence;
- Preparing information and data for input into the Criminal Evidence Intake Module (CEIM) tracking system;
- Acting as liaison/administrator for local databases such as E-Subpoena, Miami Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) A-Form, etc;
- Provides regional administrative functions to include regional training request processing, training room use coordination, fingerprinting, building maintenance requests, and reception as needed;
- Ensuring compliance with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and FDLE policy and procedures regarding granting building access;
- Coordinating routine maintenance and/or repairs with alarm/security camera vendor; and
- Completing other assignments and/or special projects as requested by supervisor, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) or Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC's).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of correct procedures for handling evidence;
- Knowledge of basic mathematics;
- Skill in communicating procedures to others;
- Ability to interpret and follow technical instructions;
- Ability to testify in court regarding chain-of-custody; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BACKGROUND:
FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
