POSITION SUMMARY:

This full-time position is in the Analytical Support squad out of the Miami Regional Operations Center. This position performs as an analyst in the compilation, evaluation and analysis of confidential information in support of highly sophisticated and complex criminal investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information. Independently conducts detailed research of criminal investigations relating to various types of crimes.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Performing investigative/intelligence analytical functions for any critical incident response when needed. May be required to be on-call for a given time period and work nights, weekends and/or holidays as part of regional on-call response;
  • Presenting analytical findings via charts, graphics, written documents, and oral briefings;
  • Generating and testing hypotheses and conclusions based on collected data and analytical and professional judgment while identifying gaps in information and proposing recommendations;
  • Coordinating with the case agent and SAS in identifying weaknesses, strengths, problems, and direction of criminal investigations;
  • Assembling and arranging documents for trial purposes and prepares a variety of related reports, graphs, charts, and exhibits, and otherwise assists investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial;
  • Testifying before grand juries and criminal trials on information developed during investigations and criminal cases when required to do so;
  • Responding to requests for investigative assistance from other law enforcement agencies;
  • Operating computers, programs, and other technical or electronic equipment when necessary, and maintains familiarity with all available programs applicable to analytical duties;
  • Briefing command staff and agency partners on analytic products and findings; and
  • Coordinating development, review, and delivery of a product in conjunction with leadership.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  3. Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
  4. Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.

 Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

    • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations and solve problems;
    • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
    • Ability to conduct fact finding research;
    • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
    • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; and
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

BASE SALARY:

Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$42,200.00 – Bachelor’s degree*

Crime Intelligence Analyst II        

$45,290.00 – Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$47,350.00 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II

$56,732.40 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience.

*A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.

 

**Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, law enforcement agency (CIA I/CIA II) or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency (SCIA I/SCIA II).

 

NOTES:

  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida.  Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), these positions may be designated as an essential service position for a given period. During this time, you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.

This Crime Intelligence Analyst position is included in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Intelligence Analyst Progression Plan. The plan provides professional development training and advancement opportunities to enhance FDLE’s investigative strategy and promote development within the crime analysis field.
