POSITION SUMMARY:

This position serves and is located in either the Miami Regional Operations Center (MROC) or the Pensacola Regional Operations Center (PROC). It is within the Investigations & Enforcement unit of the Enforcement and Investigative Support bureau. It works independently to accomplish objectives established in the Agency Strategic Plan and the missions of the Missing Persons & Offender Enforcement and Investigative Support (EIS) bureau and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Serving as the regional offender enforcement coordinator;
  • Interacting with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure that each region is aware of the state’s sex/career offender initiatives; 
  • Serving as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies within region(s) of responsibility to track down and arrest absconded offender;
  • Coordinating and participating in sex offender/predator and career offender compliance operations;
  • Coordinating and participating in meetings regarding sex offender/predator and career offender enforcement with local, state, and federal agency representatives;
  • Participating in specialized training in regards to offender enforcement;
  • Acting as resource/coordinator for other agencies requesting assistance in sex offender/predator and career offender cases;
  • Serving as the regional point of contact for AMBER and Missing Child Alerts;
  • Assisting FDLE’s Missing and Endangered Persons Clearinghouse (MEPIC) with approving and activating AMBER Alerts, Missing Child Alerts, and Enhanced Missing Child Alerts throughout the state; and
  • Serving as the Regional Crime Lab's and the Florida Medical Examiners Commission's point of contact.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Five years of sworn law enforcement or sworn investigative experience, one of which must have been in the capacity of a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

2. College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of three years of the required experience.

NOTE: Experience as a Special Agent Trainee or a Probationary Special Agent does not count toward the one year of Special Agent experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize legal, acceptable and effective investigative techniques;
  • Knowledge and understanding of law, criminal and administrative procedure applicable to general investigations and sexual offender/predator and career offender investigations;
  • Knowledge of Florida’s sexual offender/predator and career offender registration laws;
  • Working knowledge of the FDLE Sexual Offender Predator System (SOPS) and Career Offender Application for Statewide Tracking (COAST);
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques specific to sexual offender/predator and career offender investigations;
  • Knowledge of activation criteria for AMBER Alerts, Missing Child Alerts, and Enhanced Missing Child Alerts;
  • Skill in oral and written reporting and documentation;
  • Ability to comprehend and retain critical facts;
  • Ability to verbally communicate results/progress of investigative activity in an effective and efficient manner; and
  • Ability to establish investigative goals and objectives, and plan, prioritize and implement necessary steps to accomplish such.

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $67,028.28

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
