Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be working in a team environment providing on-site technical assistance to various Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County offices and clinics. Incumbent will answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, or from remote locations as well as provide support for the departments' software applications. Incumbent will report directly to the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County’s Service Desk Manager.

Analyzes desktop and laptop computer and peripheral hardware issues and makes determination on the best course of action for resolution. This may be performed by direct repair or by coordinating service visit with an approved vendor.

Assists with deploying, troubleshooting, and replacing network infrastructure including network switches, patch panels, network power supplies.

Assists in deploying, troubleshooting, and replacing wireless network infrastructure including wireless controllers, access points, and remote access points.

Assists with troubleshooting the agency’s customer queue system, Q-Flow. This includes software and hardware such as lobby displays, kiosks, device manager computers, ticket printers, audio equipment, user accounts, system roles and user groups.

Coordinates and/or installs computer software as well as troubleshoots existing software installations including Commercial (Off- the-Shelf) and FDOH/FDOH in Miami-Dade County specific application software.

Consults with vendors and other FDOH personnel to resolve issues and schedules on-site visits by approved vendors when necessary. This may require monitoring and working with the vendors on site.

Receives assignments and responds to Incidents and Service Requests in the Footprints system in a timely manner and per established standards. Documents all systems work, including installations, configurations, and changes in a timely manner.

Diagnoses and remediates workstation network connectivity issues. Makes determination on the nature of the problem and, if necessary, works with State or local Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County’s network team to resolve.

Troubleshoots printers, makes necessary repairs or coordinates with team for vendor resolution.

Provides end-user support via the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County’s Service Desk on an "as needed" basis, and other miscellaneous IT activities when directed by IT Service Desk manager.

Provides Audio / Visual assistance during staff meetings or other events as needed.

Position is required to participate in the afterhours on-call rotation.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • End-User Support - Able to support end-users with varying degrees of computer skills, via telephone, on-site, and through remote tools.
  • Desktop Operating Systems - Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems – Use, management and troubleshooting, including configuration of OS with existing Microsoft networks.
  • Microsoft Active Directory - Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and objects.
  • Networking - Able to operate basic network tools and services to troubleshoot workstations and reset accounts.
  • Application software - Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite - Proficiency with Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Outlook email, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Troubleshooting & Analysis - Possess the skills necessary to troubleshoot end-user support issues, either onsite or remotely. Methodically diagnose PC desktop and laptop issues and exercise good judgment on the most efficient course of action.
  • Demeanor - Exhibit cheerful and helpful disposition while dealing with customers.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum -

  • Experience with end-user technical support.
  • Driver’s license is REQUIRED and must be clean to be approved to drive State/County vehicles.
