This advertisement is for a Correctional Services Manager SES/SMS position located at Reg 4 Office
Salary: $80,157.74 Annually
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Regional Director and Assistant Regional Director in interpreting and monitoring compliance with statutes, rules, procedures, and ACA standards.
- Serves as the Regional Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (Emergency Coordinating Officer) and activates the Regional Emergency Operations Center as appropriate during emergency events. Responsible for coordinating all regional institutional responses to the emergency in coordination with the department's Emergency Operations Center.
- Participates as needed on operational reviews, monitors corrective action plans, and conducts follow-up audits on Operational Review and Unannounced Security Audit findings. Enters findings in report writer. Ensures the Regional Director and Assistant Regional Director are briefed.
- Actively involved in ensuring all classification/program aspects of regional facilities maintain their ACA accreditation, assists in reviewing documentation, participates in monitoring visits and mock ACA audits and conducts follow-site visits as appropriate. Assists in coordinating all aspects of the ACA accreditation process.
- Reviews/approves all disciplinary and other reports requiring the review of the Regional Director.
- Generates reports, monitors various programs to include drug testing, security threat groups, inmate custody classification, overdue progress reports/reviews, sexual predator registrations, transition checklists, job assignments and other such areas.
- Coordinates with the Central Office Program Manager inmates requesting entry into substance abuse programs.
- Supervises Regional Mock Escape Drills and ICS/DART Drills as required by Procedures.
- Supervises Operations of Special teams within the designated Region.
- Oversees Regional Arsenal Review Committee as well as Regional Security Equipment Coordinator.
- Participates in training for regional institutional classification and operations staff.
- Works closely with the State Classification Team on program issues within the region.
- Reviews institutional recommendations for protective management.
- Assists with preparation of overtime reports, vacancy reports, and staff utilization reports
- Supervises Department of Correction's classification and operations staff and serves as liaison with any private prison classification staff within the region.
- Monitors transfer of all high profile or special circumstance inmates.
- Receives incoming correspondence on programs and operations issues, research as appropriate and prepares responses on behalf of the Regional Director.
- Serves as department liaison to other local, state and federal agencies.
- Reviews research documents and publications for innovative ideas that would enhance regional program and operational activities.
- Monitors all incident reports prepared by the Inspector General to identify any issues needing the immediate attention of the regional staff.
- As supervisor, this position communicates with, motivates, provides or coordinates training, evaluates employee's work, plans and directs the employees' work, and has authority to recommend the hire, transfer or discipline subordinate employee.
- The Correctional Services Administrator supervises both Correctional Services Consultants assigned to the Region Office as well as Classification Supervisors and Government Analyst assigned to Private Facilities. Their duties include, but are not limited to appraising, selection, assignment, guidance and review of supervisory staff, project assignment responsibilities and the guidance or direction given in a professional capacity which ensures the maintenance of satisfactory employee relations and a consistently productive atmosphere.
- Assesses subordinates regarding the overall Agency mission. A certain degree of original thinking is required to organize or develop new or improved methods, ideas, strategies, procedures or techniques to ensure efficient operation of reception classification process.
- Acts as regional liaison to field in all aspects of classification and operational issues.
- Reviews the work of subordinate classification staff and clerical employees. Monitors and advises subordinates on departmental rules and procedures to develop efficient work practices. Reviews outgoing correspondence and written material.
- Trains subordinate staff. Attends, as well as conducts staff meetings.
- Meets with program supervisors and department managers at periodic staff meetings or as necessary to discuss and identify anticipated reception center requirements.
- Conducts audits of select classification staff to ensure adherence with Department of Corrections' procedures. Supervises the implementation of procedures established by the department.
- Attends meetings with other departmental staff and provide assistance as it relates to the Classification & Records unit.
- Prepares performance appraisals on employees under his/her direct supervision. Recommends appropriate disciplinary action as necessary. Interviews and recommends prospective applicants for employment.
- Ensures the Regional AC.A. standards are met. Develops plan of action of any deficiencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Ten years of professional correctional experience three years must be in a supervisoty capacity (Lieutanat or higher), college education from an accredited institutiom can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
