Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is routine paraprofessional engineering work using simple engineering or surveying practices and equipment; performing routine paraprofessional work in a sanitary engineering program; performing routine drafting work of limited difficulty; and performing other comparable field and office work associated with the Drinking Water Programs including limited use and well surveillance programs.  Incumbent participates in environmental compliance activities including but not limited to sampling, report writing, and data entry related to the state and federal Drinking Water Act under the direct supervision of a higher-level employee.

 

Monitors public water systems in the county for compliance with the Federal and  Florida and federal drinking water Acts. This includes Lead and Copper Rules, Microbiological, Chemical and Radiological Rules, Drinking Water Consumer Confidence Report, and others under the supervision of engineering staff and supervisors, as required by Chapter 62-550, 555, 560, and 699. Accurate and timely entry of required data and system information into agency databases and Oracle.

 

Collects drinking water samples for chemical, radiological, and physical quality analysis conducted by the state certified laboratory. Evaluates water analysis with respect to regulations for chemical analysis and contents to meet requirements for potability and/or well surveillance program. Collect bacteriological samples at assigned new main clearance sites in conformance with specified locations on approved plans for 2consecutive days, delivered to laboratory with completed sample forms each day along with other regular assigned facility samples collected.

 

Provide customer service via phone calls as needed. Assisting and advising owners/operators with compliance issues as appropriate. Drafting basic compliance and enforcement documents such as Compliance Assistance Letters, Warning Letters and Model Documents.

 

Investigates water quality complaints for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the well surveillance program. Investigates sanitary nuisances endangering public health and safety within 2 days of assignment and follows up with facility until abated. Completes reports related to complaint and document actions in programmatic database.

 

Participates in training sessions, seminars and meetings as available to maintain timely and current knowledge of all environmental health regulations related to public health that are under the jurisdiction of the department.

 

Participates in the execution of the overall department’s strategic plan, and the strategic plan for Environmental Health. This includes, but is not limited to client satisfaction, data collection and analysis, seminar and training attendance, process management, employee satisfaction, etc.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.
