Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position will report to the Prevention Manager and will be responsible for implementing STD/HIV Testing activities for individuals at high risk. This person will be responsible for interviewing and entering clients demographic and services performed by Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade into HMS. Perform STD/HIV/HEP C and pregnancy screenings in the mobile unit. Conducts counseling, testing and linkage (CTL) services in high incidence areas in the county.

Registers clients in Health Management System (HMS). Face to face interview with clients. Determines purpose of the visit, answers customers’ questions, provides information and routes clients as per guidelines. Interviews, verifies and records patient demographics and insurance/financial Prepares and witness consent forms and release of information. Performs waived type laboratory tests such as Pregnancy test, Urine dipstick, rapid HIV, rapid HCV and other waived type tests per SOPs. Enters client data and results into HMS and into Logs, ensures accuracy. For rapid HIV tests report results also on 1628 form, monitors test performance by comparing results with results from established State lab–based HIV testing algorithm, brings all discrepancies to manager attention, communicates results with testing coordinator and program manager.  Places electronic orders in Emdeon/HMS for HIV confirmatory testing, ensuring completeness of 1628 forms, results documentation and confidentiality issues.  Prepares and submits HIV reactive test log as well as 1628 forms with negative rapid results to the FLDOH HIV/AIDS Bureau on monthly basis.

Participates in the operation of communicable and/or chronic disease control in mobile unit. Provides HIV education, prevention, HIV, STD’s, pregnancy and STD testing and linkage services within the selected target areas of Miami Dade County by participating in healthy teen expo, take control events, PSCI events and special events as assigned. 1-Complete consent forms for specified screenings (HIV/STD) 2- Responsible for completing accurately screening forms for HIV 1628, STD Testing Lab and Hepatitis C screening form. 3-Perform counseling and testing session following guidelines and protocols. 4- Provides results to client-for all preliminary reactives, draw bloods and initiates linkage to care process 5- Educates clients and the public on sexual transmitted diseases & HIV/AIDS, including transmission and prevention to increase knowledge and awareness. 6-Assists with linking newly diagnosed clients to care or re-engaging HIV infected clients who have fallen out of care as needed. 7-Follow ups on preliminary reactive test in HMS to ensure that clients have been refer to appropiate services.

Oversees the data collection activities for the mobile testing unit. Responsible for producing HMS reports on a monthly basis. Submits reports on activities perform to the Prevention Coordinator. Ensures that the data collection system is up to date and captures information requested by the CDC.

Participates in workgroups and meetings, trainings as required. Reviews/responds to email on a daily basis and completes on time al administrative requirements such as Employee Activity Records (EAR), timesheets, responds to all FDOH emergency response alerts, etc. Participates in quality improvement activities, utilizing the Plan -Do-Check-Act methodology to pursue opportunities for improvement and review outcomes as needed.

Assistance in additional office related activities and duties as required and assigned.
