Description

Hourly rate is non-negotiable. The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum hourly rate. 

The Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange Specialist is responsible for the safe, structured, and consistent facilitation of court-ordered supervised visitation and monitored exchanges through the Court’s Supervised Visitation Program within Family Court Services. This role focuses on maintaining child safety, emotional stability, and compliance with judicial directives in complex or high-conflict family cases.

The position involves direct observation and supervision of parent-child interactions in matters that may include domestic violence, substance use concerns, reunification challenges, and other identified safety risks. Services are delivered in accordance with Florida Statutes, court orders, and established best practices for supervised visitation programs.

This is a part-time position requiring in-person availability during the Supervised Visitation Program schedule at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center. The working schedule for this position is as follows:
  • Mondays and Wednesdays: 3:30 PM - 8:30 PM 
  • Saturdays: 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM 

Additional availability may be required for training, onboarding, and operational needs. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and monitors court-ordered parent-child visitation and exchanges in a structured and neutral environment.
  • Ensures the physical and emotional safety of children during all interactions. 
  • Observes, documents, and reports parent-child interactions in an objective and timely manner. 
  • Enforces program rules, visitation conditions, and safety protocols consistently and professionally.
  • Intervenes as necessary to de-escalate conflict and maintain a safe visitation environment.
  • Assists with intake appointments and case orientation for participating families.
  • Coordinates visitation schedules and maintains accurate case records and documentation.
  • Prepares and submits written reports and updates for court review, as required.
  • Maintains neutrality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries with all parties.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, court staff, attorneys, and service providers as appropriate.
  • Supports overall program operations and perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and families, preferably in high-conflict, court-involved, or social service settings (relevant training may substitute for experience where applicable).
  • Acceptable results of a background check in accordance with Florida Department of Law Enforcement requirements for positions working with children.
  • Ability to speak and write in English is required. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred; additional proficiency in Haitian Creole is a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems. 
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, child abuse and neglect, trauma, and their impact on children and families, including safety considerations during supervised visitation and exchanges. 
  • Knowledge of child development, high-conflict family dynamics, and the effects of separation and divorce on children and parents. 
  • Familiarity with mental health conditions and substance use concerns and their impact on parent-child interactions. 
  • Ability to facilitate supervised visitation and monitored exchanges in accordance with court orders and program policies. 
  • Ability to maintain neutrality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries while working with court-involved parties. 
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document objectively and communicate effectively with families, court personnel, and the public. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain reliability during scheduled work hours. 
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Ability to follow established procedures and contribute to maintaining program standards and best practices.

  • Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, talking, listening, balancing, stooping, and reaching with hands and arms; must be able to transfer up to 20 pounds.
