Description:
Salary is Non-Negotiable. The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum salary.
- This position is responsible for performing clinical assessments on participants who are eligible for and have requested drug court services. Working relationships will be established with the Adult Drug Court Coordinator, Adult Drug Court Judge, personal staff, treatment professionals, and appropriate agencies. Work is evaluated based on the achievement of desired outcomes, adherence to deadlines, and the completion of assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts evidence-based assessments in a criminal justice environment to determine risk factors and needs of each participant.
- Schedules psycho-social assessments in a timely manner.
- Determines the appropriate level of treatment services for each participant.
- Completes all relevant admission paperwork.
- Provides the defendants with an overview of the drug court program and its expectations.
- Collects any relevant information pertinent to the treatment needs of the defendant.
- Contributes as an active team member in weekly treatment staffing's, providing clinical insights.
- Maintains up-to-date case and participant documentation and records.
- Develops case conceptualizations in a timely manner and provides the report to the Court and to all related parties; provides recommendations to the Court.
- Maintains effective relationships with referral sources as needed.
- Communicates with new referral sources about program components.
- Performs related tasks and duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of psychology, counseling, or human/social services or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with dually diagnosed populations as well conducting intakes, assessments, and admissions with a substance abusing population.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
- Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V)
- Skilled in DSM-V application with strong clinical competencies.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software programs to include Microsoft Word and Excel, and database applications.
- Knowledge of 12-step programs and support services in the community.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws governing patient confidentiality.
- Ability to provide crisis intervention if needed.
- Understanding of the mental health system and the process of accessing substance abuse treatment within Miami-Dade County.
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion concerning confidential information.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to plan, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
- Ability to organize work, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the judiciary, personnel staff, supervisor, co-workers, court administration, service providers, participants and the public.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

- Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, typing, talking, listening, stooping, and reaching with hands and arms; must be able to transfer up to 10 pounds.
