Duties and Responsibilities
The State of Florida Other Personal Services (OPS) Driver Licenses Examiner position is a professional, position responsible for providing services to the public, including determining and verifying driver eligibility and compliance, administering driving tests, issuing driver licenses, temporary licenses, and identification cards, and collecting payment from customers for goods and services. This is accomplished by administering vision, written, and road tests to driver license applicants, determination of qualifications, and the collection and processing of driver licenses fees. Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-lingual (fluent in speaking, reading, and / or writing a foreign language other than English).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least one year of full-time work experience which involved customer contact or at least one year of full-time work experience in a driver license/motor vehicle program area or Tax Collector’s office.
- Work experience in entering data, cash handling, collecting payments or operating a register.
- Work experience reviewing/verifying information or data.
Job Related Requirements
- In accordance with Florida Statute 322, selected applicant must possess a valid Class E or higher driver's license; not learner's license and be at least 21 years of age. Selected applicants must have no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment and must also maintain a driving record with no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crash or any violation defined in Chapter 316, Florida Statutes during any consecutive (3) year period of employment.
- Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Driver Licenses Examiners must meet the background standards outlined in Florida Statute 435.04, and Federal Regulations 384.228 and 1572.103. This includes, but is not limited to, not having any criminal convictions for alcohol or drug-related offenses within 10 years prior to employment and maintaining this throughout employment.
- Selected applicants will work in both controlled indoor environments as well as outdoors (inclement weather) and within enclosed vehicles/equipment. Selected applicants must physically be able to administer driving tests and enter and exit low/high vehicles without assistance.
- Occasional overtime is required.

Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
