The Work You Will Do:
QC Coordinator / Highway Operations
The QC Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of the structural inspection program by overseeing quality control and assurance processes. This position supports the agency by evaluating inspection procedures, conducting technical reviews, and serving as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders to maintain high standards and adherence to departmental policies.

Anticipated Pay:
$3,076.92 /biweekly
A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,976.00 will be added to the annual salary.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Oversees and performs activities related to quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures to ensure consistency and a high degree of accuracy is maintained in the inspection program.
Conducts periodic field review of inspection teams; independently reviews of work order completions, inspection reports and computations.
Analyzes and evaluates existing and proposed structural inspection procedures to assist the Bridge Inspector Supervisor in determining training needs and the effectiveness of the current program. Acts as liaison to asset maintenance firms and inspection consultant contracts with regard to QC adherence and recommendations.
Develops systematic quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes to assure compliance with Department Procedures No. 850-010-030-g (Bridge and Other Structures Inspection and Reporting), 850-010-032-a (Movable Bridge Operations), Department’s internal Quality Control Plan and the Quality Assurance Review criteria set forth by the Department’s State Maintenance Office.
Conducts technical review of construction and bridge rehabilitation plans for maintainability and constructability. Recommends possible design changes, relating to inspection and maintenance.
Serves as liaison and/or advisor to management, staff, consulting engineers, municipal agencies and other state agencies on matters relating to structure inspection QC reviews.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques related to bridge structures and facilities.
- Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production related to bridge structures and facilities.
- Knowledge of federal and state bridge inspection principles, techniques, procedures; knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation standard specifications for roadway and bridge construction.
- Knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation construction project administration manual (CPAM) as it relates to bridge maintenance.
- Knowledge of Comprehensive Inventory Database (CID).
- Knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation Maintenance Management System (MMS).
Skills in:
- Skill in using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments.
Ability to:
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and contracts, roadway and traffic design standards.
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data; ability to use mainframe.
- Ability to use word processing software; ability to create electronic spreadsheets from engineering data.
- Ability to communicate engineering information effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to write narrative reports.
- Ability to organize and maintain files.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or GED and 48 months experience in bridge inspection, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an area of engineering.
