Location: Office of Health Services – Southeast Region: St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Broward, Dade, Collier, Lee Counties
Salary: $3,030.58 Bi-weekly (Salary commensurate with knowledge and experience). This position also includes a CAD of $120.80 that will be added to the selected candidate's bi-weekly base salary. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:
This position provides complex nursing consultation and technical assistance to the South Region detention centers to assist health care providers in adhering to department policies, procedures, rules and other related instructional material provided by the department. Provides day to day operational oversight and recommendations to licensed health care providers and serves as an expert resource to health care professionals, facility management staff, and other applicable staff. Serves as Office of Health Services liaison with applicable Regional Detention. Office in regard to applicable health related issues within the region, health care program development, planning and problem resolution in consultation with Headquarters Office of Health Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Review of medical histories of youth pending placement in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice for recommendations of placement based on the needs of the youth.
Provide on-site and off-site technical assistance and monitoring for state operated and provider operated programming on the provision of Health Services.
Assist with the development and maintenance of department policy and rule affecting the delivery of healthcare to the youth served by the department.
Participate in community and state meetings or boards that will assist the Department of Juvenile Justice and the healthcare services provided.
Review and approve reports, corrective actions and other medical related documentation within the electronic systems used to document the healthcare provided within the department's facilities and centers.
Serve as a technical advisor in the procurement of health services provider contracts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to development, evaluation and implementation of nursing processes.
Ability to organize work, coordinate with others as necessary, and work independently.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the creation of Power Point presentations.
Ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking
Ability to conduct research and formulate policy recommendations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have an active valid professional license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida pursuant to Chapter 464 F.S.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- 5 or more years nursing experience in the State of Florida.
- Experience in a clinical setting with children or young adults.
- Knowledge of medical compliance and experience with medical chart reviews.
- A background in Nursing Administration.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This position requires traveling across the state to provide training and technical assistance in DJJ facilities and programs, as needed.
