Overview:
The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities.
The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.
The Division of Gaming Enforcement is a criminal justice agency comprised of sworn law enforcement officers and criminal intelligence analysts handling complex cases involving RICO, money laundering, and illegal gambling throughout the state.

The FGCC is searching for a Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II for the Miami office. Work involves collection, analysis and presentation of data related to criminal activity investigated by agency personnel. The incumbent will initiate research projects related to sophisticated or complex criminal activity to determine structure, scope of operations, capabilities, and weaknesses of the criminal suspect or organization in furtherance of FGCC investigations.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties include:
- Reviews, monitors, and researches crime reports to identify activities, patterns, and techniques used to facilitate and conduct illegal gambling.
- Uses intelligence resources to establish connections between criminal activity and persons or organizations.
- Creates products related to Commission enforcement activity, crime reporting topics of interest, and other needs as identified by supervisors.
- Researches crime reporting data to ensure that information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements.
- Conducts background checks of Division of Gaming Enforcement sworn and non-sworn applicants.
- Maintains regular contact with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies, other criminal justice agencies outside of the state of Florida, and non-criminal justice agencies for the purpose of gathering and organizing information on current and developing criminal activity in illegal gambling.
- Assembles and arranges evidence and work products for trial purposes, and prepares a wide variety of related reports, graphs, charts, and exhibits, and otherwise assists investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial activities.
- Testifies, when required, before a statewide, state, or federal grand jury or trial jury and during other proceedings, as to information obtained, and/or analyzed and for chain-of-custody of evidence.
- Maintains familiarity of legal issues surrounding the analytic process including privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties protections within the intelligence cycle and products, such as application of the 28 CFR Part 23 regulation and the handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
- Represents the FGCC at multi-agency intelligence sharing meetings.
- Mentors and/or trains Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I’s on Commission policies and procedures related to analytical and intelligence activities conducted in support of criminal investigations.
- Travels as required to provide investigative support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize criminal intelligence data and knowledge of law enforcement intelligence databases and resources;
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
- Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
- Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; and
- Ability to deal with the public and other in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of law enforcement analytical experience.*
- Successful completion of the Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy.
*Law enforcement analytical experience is defined as “professional experience in criminal intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative analysis at a law enforcement agency.”
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in criminal intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative analysis at a law enforcement agency.

- Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking, analytical research and interpretation, and developing and delivering presentations. Applicants should possess excellent multitasking skills.

During this time, these positions may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
