Your Specific Responsibilities:

Provide technical and administrative support related to Community Engagement for the Office of Community Health and Planning, under the Community Engagement Team to identify community partners, create social media, newsletters, and will work with municipalities to share messaging and articles related to healthy eating, physical activity and improved nutrition as well as provide support for the implementation activities. 

Assists the Office of Community Health and Planning in maintaining the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade Committees and program initiatives within the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County. The incumbent will serve as liaison for the Consortium committees including the Health and Built Environment and one other Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade Committee. Incumbent will be responsible for meeting organizations, planning, scheduling, and presentations. Incumbent will ensure meeting minutes are complete, and the committees have materials to operate to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the committee work plan.

The incumbent will serve as liaison for the Healthy Communities of Florida initiative related to Go Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAPSACC) and Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE-EH) Project working with childcare centers, community partners, and stakeholders to prepare, implement and sustain project efforts. Will be responsible for meeting regularly with childcare centers, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure project tasks are completed and progress is reported on a quarterly basis.

Develops and distributes standardized departmental messaging and resources prompting health and chronic disease control through prevention, education, regulation, and service including but not limited to newsletters, press releases, social media messaging, and fliers. Represents the Consortium for a Healthier Miami Dade and at health fairs during work hours and at times during nontraditional work hours and/or weekends.

Supports evaluation projects activities related to the development, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of assessment and contract results for evaluation purposes including but not limited to assistance with the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) process.

Assists with the planning, organizing and coordination of work assignments, including establishing and maintaining community contacts, scheduling, and/or packing of presentation materials, promotional items and educational materials.

Performs other related duties as required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health education.
  • Knowledge of the terminology and principles of statistics and mathematics.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to collect, compile, summarize and analyze statistical data using established statistical methodology.
  • Ability to perform statistical and mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to organize statistical data into logical format.
  • Ability to prepare charts, graphs, diagrams and other pictorial representations of statistical data.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

Public speaking, experience creating reports and presentations. 

Preferred –

Incumbent in this position is preferred to be bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
