Assistant State Attorney – Child Support Program

Are you a Florida Bar member looking for a career in public service? Are you interested in making a positive impact in the lives of the children in our community?

The State Attorney’s Office is looking for Florida Bar members with a demonstrated interest or experience in family law to join our Child Support Program. Child Support Program attorneys handle a caseload with exposure to many aspects of civil and family litigation including basic and complex issues relating to paternity, support, enforcement, modifications, interstate cases, and other related child support issues. Duties include drafting pleadings and other legal documents, case preparation and court presentation before General Magistrates, Hearing Officers, and Judges. This position is well-suited for attorneys looking to become litigators or expand their litigation experience in the areas of civil and family law. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Child Support Program attorneys receive extensive training in family law statutes, family law caselaw, civil and family law rules of procedure, drafting pleadings, trial preparation, as well as litigation skills and techniques. However, preference will be given to candidates with experience in the field.

This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys to practice in an area of law that provides a great public service by making an impactful difference in the quality of the lives of the children in our communities. Attorneys looking for a legal career in public service may also qualify for student loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program after the necessary requirements have been met. This position comes with an excellent benefits package including health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, vacation time, sick time, and retirement plans.

The base salary for an incoming Assistant State Attorney in the Child Support Program is $76,000.08. Additionally, a 23.8% Cost Area Differential (CAD) is added to the base salary for a total of $94,088.04.
