Public Information Officer II – Media Team

Position Overview

 

The Public Information Officer II creates and implements compelling content across all social media platforms (including our website); manages day to day activity on social channels; monitors all feeds; responds to and/or routes inquiries to the appropriate internal teams; produces letters to external partners and agencies, newsletters, press releases and scripts; and facilitates conversations with our audiences to build relationships and enhance the sense of community.  This position is exempt from the provisions of FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).  The typical work schedule for this position is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., however, some after-hour work events will require adjustment of the morning schedule hours.

 

The Job Responsibilities are:

 

  • Managing the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office social media platforms and helping develop website content
  • Creating engaging and compelling content (including written and visuals) for all our social media and/or web-based platforms
  • Managing all published content (images, video and written)
  • Creating strategic communications for news media, including preparing articles, biographies, press kits, press releases, scripts, meetings, events, staff and community pictures, and other content initiatives as needed
  • Supporting all social media efforts including management of content calendar, execution of social media campaigns and reporting
  • Managing the flow of news about the organization to the media, monitoring media and reporting to the Communications Team
  • Preparing leadership for media interviews, and speaking opportunities
  • Helping produce and distribute our monthly agency electronic newsletter that is distributed to 10,000+ readers, and working with other office team members to develop content
  • Helping produce and distribute our annual Year-In Review
  • Interacting frequently with members of the local, national, and international media, sometimes representing the office as a guest on radio and television media outlets
  • Attending out-of-office events as needed
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

 

The Minimum Requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Social Media, Marketing, Journalism Communications, Public or Media Relations or related degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of two (2) years in public relations or related field (including journalism) 
  • Must have experience with working with social media content creation platforms such as Canva
  • Fluent and literate in English/Spanish
  • Possessing an ability to create and edit videos and reels
  • Possessing knowledge of design related programs including the Adobe and Corel Application Suites

The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:

 

  • Possessing practical experience with photography, video and design software
  • Possessing Criminal Justice knowledge or experience
  • Prior work experience with criminal justice or public agency

  • Possess and demonstrate understanding of all social media platforms including, but not limited, to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – both as a marketer and as a user
  • Adhere to brand identity and writing/editorial standards
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, planning, and collaborating with peers in a cross-functional setting

 

Starting Annual Salary: $73,555.08 Salary will be commensurate with experience
