ADVERTISING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CONSULTANT

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Academic Services.

Our mission in Academic Services is to effectively coordinate and support Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across correctional institutions by serving as a central communication link, providing comprehensive training and guidance to educators, ensuring program quality and compliance through regular evaluations, managing resources responsibly, and fostering collaboration to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for all participants. 

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Acts as the main contact between institutions, regional offices, and the central office to keep everyone informed about Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and supports Assistant Wardens and Education Supervisors on CTE issues.
  • Provides training and ongoing help to CTE teachers and staff, including onboarding new teachers and addressing policy changes or compliance problems.
  • Visits correctional institutions to check CTE programs, find issues, suggest fixes, and make sure programs follow rules and meet quality standards.
  • Reviews program data to improve or remove programs, manages budgets, approves purchases, and ensures funds are spent properly.
  • Leads groups to share best practices, coordinates candidate screening for programs, manages idle or closed programs, and provides regular updates and recommendations on CTE programs in the region.

  • Must be able to travel long distances and be flexible with work hours to complete necessary tasks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
