The Work You Will Do:

The Employment Security Representative I (ESR I) will work alongside the Workforce Board and DEO staff to meet the needs of CareerSource Escarosa’s clients by providing outstanding customer service in a diverse environment. The Employment Security Representative I is a member of the DEO team with CareerSource Escarosa.

You will provide workforce development services that will assist jobseekers in obtaining and retaining employment and enable local employers to attract and retain highly qualified candidates.

Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are in the most northwestern section of the Florida panhandle. These two counties form the “Escarosa” part of our organization’s name. Escambia’s largest city, Pensacola, is known as the “City of Five Flags” because of the five flags that have flown over the city, including – Spanish, French, British, Confederate, and United States. Santa Rosa is home to Blackwater River State Park – a popular spot for water sport enthusiasts.

Pay:  $30,000 Annually


Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • A facilitator for job seeker success, provides outstanding customer service to job seekers to meet the workforce demands of the businesses throughout our community of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.  Provides career counseling, support and assistance to customers utilizing CareerSource Escarosa resources.  
  • Provides career advice and support to job seekers using the center’s resource areas, specifically the EmployFlorida Labor Exchange. Ensures that customers use computers and equipment for their intended purpose and redirect customers who are using resources inappropriately.
  • Assist customers in completing profiles, job applications, creating and uploading a resume, etc. so that they can easily be matched to existing job orders based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities. Assist customers with Re-Employment Assistance (RA) by answering questions and providing relevant RA information.
  • Assist clients with job searches, job matching, and refer qualified candidates to job orders based on qualifications.
  • Refer customers to appropriate departments based on needs. Administer tests/assessments such as typing tests, eSkills and others as required or requested by employers. Review resumes, makes suggestions and assist with edits as needed.
  • Reach out to new EmployFlorida registrants and encourage them to take advantage of all of CareerSource Escarosa resources.
  • Record relevant activity codes and case note customer interactions in EmployFlorida.
  • Handles customer concerns and difficult customers in a professional manner.
  • Maintains neat and orderly, professional work area(s).
  • Participate in all aspects of teamwork, and as a willing partner in not only the specific team, but in the organization. All team members are expected to have a working knowledge of the CareerSource services offered to customers and should be prepared to provide back-up coverage in other areas during peak periods, or when staffing shortages arise due to lunch hours, vacations, or illness.
  • Work throughout CareerSource Escarosa’s One-Stops as needed/scheduled.
  • Maintain strict rules of confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Ability to provide outstanding, positive, and professional customer service. 
  • A high level of proficiency in computer applications is required including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, email applications.
  • Keyboarding/typing skills of 40 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in internet applications; ability to navigate and comprehend a variety of employment related websites.
  • Experience with the EmployFlorida website is a plus but not required. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies as they are introduced.

Interpersonal skills:

  • Energetic personality, positive attitude and a high level of commitment to helping and serving people.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.

Organizational skills:

  • Time management skills and excellent verbal and written communications skills.  


As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.  



  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • May be required to travel locally in the Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and must furnish own transportation.
  • Must become certified as a Workforce Development Professional (Tier 1) within 12 months of appointment to this position.

  • Candidates with a degree in a related field
