JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for collecting and counting user fees. Verifies and balances revenue. Fills out deposit forms including Records of Deposits. Deposits recreation revenues into the bank. Regularly maintains revenue and usage data spreadsheets from recreation areas. Reconciles revenue. Follows policy and procedures regarding cash, checks, credit card revenue, and returned checks. Responsible for reconciling credit card revenue and filling out deposit forms for credit card payment system, if in use. Handles revenue and accounting for Friends of Florida State Forest (FFSF) transactions. Attempts to collect on returned checks and documents collection attempts. Prepares refunds for forest users.
Maintains primitive sites through litter collection, road work, posts, signage, etc. Maintains trails through trail painting, signage, mowing, etc. Assists other personnel in making improvements in recreation areas. Responsible for oversight, including maintenance, of one or more recreation areas, with fixed facilities such as bathhouses, swimming piers or docks, campsites, picnic tables, horse paddocks and stables, dining rooms, open-air pavilions, gate houses, well houses, grounds, swimming lake maintenance, etc. Duties include personal contact with users and visitors to the recreation area, providing information, enforcing state forest rules and policies, and providing for the general safety of all individuals using the area. Maintenance of recreation facilities, including cleaning restrooms and stocking supplies, as often as needed (sometimes more than once a day), picking up litter, making minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, landscape maintenance including mowing and trimming, posting signs and maintaining information kiosks. May work alone or as part of a group. May be required to work in multiple recreation areas (improved and unimproved) as needed. Responsible for overseeing the work of Campground Hosts and OPS staff as needed, which may include OPS lifeguards. When overseeing lifeguards, ensure public safety. May be responsible for reporting hours worked by OPS and volunteers. Inspects horse health documents.
Takes recreation reservations and keeps reservations on Microsoft Access or other computer programs and in hard copy format. Backs up reservation information and sends to the appropriate people. Prepares forest user permits on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access. Works with volunteer groups, individual volunteers, and the FFSF, Inc. Logs volunteer hours on the VOLT database and generates reports.
Informs the public on the recreation program and recreation issues. Orders and maintains printed recreation materials for the public. Assists with grants. Inputs recreation data into reports. Logs forest management data on computer files.
Gives tours on the state forest as needed. Attends recreation meetings that involve Blackwater’s recreation user groups. Responsible for compiling forest recreation data such as usage numbers. Develops forest information for the public. Uses GPS units for mapping purposes.
Performs periodic special duties such as providing support of special recreation events and assisting in field assignments.
