The primary responsibilities of this position are to assure the delivery of quality dental services to clients of Jefferson and Madison counties in the land clinic as well as the mobile unit.  This includes but is not limited to actual treatment performed on patients, assurance of confidentiality, monitoring sterilization procedures, development of community dental programs to assist in screening high risk individuals and periodic training programs as needed.  Maintains treatment plan and assessments, both electronic and paper chart, at time of service, including cashiering. 


Sterilization, disinfecting, cleaning and maintenance of: instruments, equipment and operatories as appropriate according to state, federal and ADA guidelines.


Assisting in the delivery of dental services to include: examinations; taking/ developing, mounting and labeling x-rays; insuring health histories are complete; taking of vital signs, assisting in the placement of sealants, composite and amalgam restorations.  Assist the hygienist with prophylaxis including oral hygiene instructions and patient behavior management.  Assist with surgical, endodontic, and prosthodontic care.  Assist in intern student instruction as necessary and appropriate.


Clerical functions to include answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, client registration, determining client eligibility and income, preparing superbills, data entry of services, filing and retrieving patient charts while maintaining client confidentiality and building security procedures at all times.


Assists with inventory of consumable supplies and ordering within an adequate timeframe to insure that no materials are ever totally depleted.


Follows OSHA regulations to insure compliance, maintains Material Data Safety Sheets and follows required safety guidelines.


Completes timesheets and Employee Activity Records within 3 working days of activity.


Assists in community dental screening programs.


Other functions as required.
