The mission of the RBNERR is to provide a basis for informed stewardship of estuaries in Southwest Florida through research and education.

 

The best qualified candidate for the Facilities Services Consultant will possess the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the successful daily operations of RBNERR.

The Facilities Services Consultant is a core member of the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR).

 

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides funding to state governments and universities to administer the National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRs) currently implemented at 29 locations around the coastal United States and its territories.

 

The Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR), located in Naples, Florida was designated in 1978 as the third NERR in the nation due to its outstanding natural features including pristine mangrove forests and barrier islands.

Pay:

$40,000- $45,000 annually - 40 hours per week.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining the reserve maintenance system and coordinating duties with the CPA II.

Responsible for the coordination of volunteers, onsite contractors and maintenance personnel who perform custodial and maintenance duties. 

Responsible for enforcing and ensuring compliance with custodial/maintenance contracts.

Provide mechanical and consultant support for the Reserve’s headquarters’ fleet including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.

Provides monthly support managing the FLEET and OCULUS for the Reserve and SW Aquatic Preserve Field offices. Assistant to the property custodian in managing surplus property and the end of year property inventory

Works closely with the CPA II to establish needs assessments and prioritize maintenance and construction projects; performs assistance to support Reserve-wide projects as assigned.

Provides support in the event of an emergency at the Reserve including pre-storm preparation, post-storm clean-up and replacement of stored goods to ready the site for normal operation.

Responsible for conducting mechanical repairs and construction maintenance work in support of Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve’s facilities and surrounding grounds.

Provides oversight for all facilities-related mechanical and structural construction projects, including acting as the liaison between construction managers, architects, RBNERR and DEP. 

Performs other duties as required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of office procedures and practices; knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication. Knowledge of equipment usage and maintenance; Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports. Ability to utilize problem solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to review, interpret and develop policy and procedures; Ability to maintain service contracts and maintenance schedules.

   

Minimum Qualifications:

Driver’s License required.                                                                                                                                                Microsoft Office Suite experience.
