Position Overview and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting mechanical repairs and construction maintenance work in support of facilities and surrounding grounds at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
  • Provide mechanical and consultant support for the Reserve’s headquarters’ fleet including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Provide support for special events including pre and post event set-up and tear down of equipment; works with vendors and outside stakeholders, representing the Reserve and agency in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work closely with Facilities Coordinator to establish needs assessments and prioritize projects; performs assistance to support Reserve-wide projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide support in the event of an emergency at the Reserve including pre-storm preparation, post-storm clean-up and logistical support to return to normal daily operations.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of principals and techniques in proper use of mechanical and power tools used for general maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.  Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs.  Ability to operate state vehicles, vessels, ATVs, mowers and tractors.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

HVAC experience preferred

Pay:

$18 per hour. 24 hours per week.
