This is an OPS (temporary Licensed Practical Nurse position with the Department of Health (DOH) in Collier County, and functions as an LPN for the COVID-19 Initiative. This position primarily works COVID-19 testing sites and is expected to provide COVID-19 related information and educate patients on ways to stay healthy and prevent spread of infection.



Licensure as a Florida Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464, an American Health Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification, a valid Florida Driver’s License, and reliable transportation are required. Fluency in English/Spanish or English/Creole are valuable. Required annual TB screening. Immunization screening upon hire.


Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters; or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

  • Other duties include: patient isolation monitoring, contact tracing and other duties as assigned
  • This position must assure compliance with the Florida Department of Health securities policy at all times

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, community partners, health agencies, physicians, individuals, and the public.
  • Ability to provide reliable transportation. 
  • Spanish and/or Creole language skills valuable. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in order to educate clients.
