DESCRIPTION

This is a temporary position in support of the COVID-19 State emergency response. Duties will primarily be supporting COVID-19 efforts with logistical support to include delivery, setup, breakdown, and recovery of equipment and supplies at designated testing sites. May also provide courier services. This position will work an estimated 29 hours per week anticipated to be through at least September 2020.

 

REQUIREMENTS

A valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation are required.  The incumbent of this position is required to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to move around freely and frequently bend, kneel, reach, sit or stand for long periods of time as necessary. Must be willing to work flexible hours to include after normal working hours and on weekends.   Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including extreme heat, rain, high humidity and other adverse conditions. Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must have basic computer skills such as the ability to read and respond to emails. 

 

EMERGENCY DUTY required of the incumbent includes working Special Needs Shelters if activated, or performing other emergency duties including but not limited responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides primarily logistical services in support of COVID-19 testing and other related efforts.   Logistical services include the loading and unloading of equipment and supplies, driving a large truck to the testing location, setting up and taking down tents and tables, courier services and moving heavy items as needed.   

Assists in other COVID-19 activities as needed such as assisting in mass testing.  Assistance may include such duties as registration, crowd and traffic control, monitoring staff and the public for safety issues and other non-medical duties.

Places and answers telephones, ensuring calls are answered promptly, professionally, courteously and are routed to the appropriate areas.

Provides coverage as needed for other DOH-Collier staff such as assisting with breaks and coverage during staff absences and extended clinic hours as scheduled. Performs related work as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ESSENTIAL TO THIS ROLE:

  • Must possess verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
