LOCATION: Naples, Florida
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Daily duties:
- Directs services of the DOH-Collier Tuberculosis (TB) Program including contact investigation and contact evaluation activities, reviewing the Aggregate Reports for Tuberculosis Program Evaluation (ARPES) for all TB clients and participating in DOH-Collier and Regional TB Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Improvement (QI) activities.
- Provides clinical case management for new and established TB clients, including initial nursing intake.
- Conducts patient assessments based on client’s diagnosis and needs, including health history, vaccine records, allergy signs and symptoms, behavioral and social information, and risk factors, etc.
- Administers vaccines or other treatments as ordered by medical provider and in accordance with the state and/or local policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Documents in the Health Management System (HMS) electronic medical records system or patient chart and in the Florida Shots database.
- Educates patients and others based on evidenced based information in a manner that meets the learning requirements of the patient and encouragers treatment adherence.
- Performs basic laboratory functions to include phlebotomy, specimen collection and preparation of requisitions, and handling and shipping of specimens. Responsible for daily operations, maintenance, and proper storage of laboratory equipment.
- Assists with STD and HIV/AIDS associated activities including pre and post-test counseling per DOH guidelines for risk assessment and behavior modification.
- Coordinates Adult Health clinic daily operations during absence of clinic manager.
- Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame
- Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster
- Completion of all mandatory or assigned trainings within the required time frame
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, and treatment of communicable diseases and community interventions.
- Knowledge and ability to counsel and educate clients to promote treatment adherence.
- Knowledge of CDC and other evidenced based guidelines for the clinical care of patients with Tuberculosis.
- Ability to document using an electronic medical record system.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Standard phlebotomy and laboratory practices
- Valid Driver’s License and Reliable Transportation
- Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Preferred:
- Minimum of two years of experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole.
