This Executive nursing position reports to the County Health Department Administrator and is responsible for agency programmatic quality measures. The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment in formulating organizational goals and assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures that have a significant impact on services. The incumbent directly supervises the School Health program, Healthy Start program, and Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. However, as the lead nurse for the entire organization, the incumbent has quality assurance responsibilities across multiple programs to ensure program requirements and nursing protocols are met. This includes programs (Family Planning, STD, HIV/AIDS, TB, and Immunization) that are not directly under the supervision of the position.

 

The incumbents’ priority focus will be to develop and carry out the agency’s Clinical and Organizational Quality Assurance program. Quality improvement methods and tools will be operationalized into daily practice to ensure program compliance and operational efficiency. The strategic planning process for the agency will provide focus on long-term and short-term objectives.

Activities will also include collaboration with community partners using assessments and data collection to drive a community health improvement plan.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Effective leadership that includes mentoring and coaching subordinates along with relationship building with peers.
  • Strong understanding of Public Health concepts in clinic operations.
  • Applied Quality Assurance Standards and Principles as it relates to program requirements in the Public Health functions such as Family Planning, Immunizations, STD/HIV and TB.
  • Extravert personality that is capable of motivating and mobilizing staff and community partners

 

Qualifications:

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464.  Must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
