Your Specific Responsibilities:
This professional nursing position delivers services to clients in Family Planning, STD, HIV, and Immunizations under the supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor. This position will provide services to the community through the DOH-Marion Mobile Health Unit. This position is required to achieve and maintain a fundamental working knowledge of the Incident Command System.
Nursing Assessment:
The Community Health Nurse will:
1. Apply nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of clients
2. Administer prescribed medications ensuring the Rights of Medication Administration
3. Log out all medications administered
4. Utilize nursing protocols in the care of clients
5. Provide client and family education and make appropriate referrals as indicated
6. Evaluates Immunization status and administers immunizations per protocol using correct techniques as outlined in procedure manual
7. Accurately documents all services provided
Quality Improvement and Assurance:
The Community Health Nurse will:
1. Assist with chart reviews and other QI activities to improve clinic functions and to meet the DOH-Marion mission statement and goals.
2. Attend professional meetings to maintain and update nursing skills
3. Will attend staff meetings or be required to read the minutes to maintain working knowledge of changes in the organization
4. Will assist with the orientation of new employees and students
5. Participates in Family Planning community events, health fair, etc.
Team Building:
The Community Health Nurse will:
1. Assist with orientation of new employees and students
2. Function as a team member by utilizing effective communication skills, assisting practitioners, and demonstrating leadership skills to support staff.
3. Provides guidance and training to clinical staff on Family Planning updates, requirements, and processes.
Other related duties as assigned.
Other duties:
1. Incumbent may be required to work beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency or Mobile Health Unit events. Emergency operation functions of the Incumbent include but are not limited to Special Needs Shelters, Red Cross Shelters, or other emergency functions.

- Ability to recognize areas of their own practice in need of improvement.
- Ability to record a clear, understandable, and legally defensible account of care or services provided.
- Ability to teach clients on specific health issues, promotion of wellness, maintenance of health and prevention of illness.
- Ability to supervise and teach other personnel in the theory and performance of any of the above acts that are appropriate to be delegated.
- Ability to make a nursing diagnosis following specified protocols.
Qualifications:
Minimum-
Florida Registered Nurse License
Valid FL Driver's License
Phlebotomy skills
Preferred-
Bilingual ( Spanish and English)
HIV Knowledge
Immunization Knowledge
EMR Experience
