Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for coordinating the care of clients affected by HIV and Hepatitis C, with emphasis on education regarding the treatment and prevention of HIV and Hepatitis C by educating and assisting clients to obtain needed resources to maintain health. Intake of new clients into the HIV or Hepatitis C clinic done under nurse protocol, taking detailed history, ensuring clients are linked into care within the prescribed guidelines. Provides HIV counseling and testing with emphasis on prevention and risk reduction.
Performs initial interview and assessment of all clients presenting for HIV and Hepatitis C care, consulting with provider for treatment recommendations. Ensures all required lab work is completed prior to issuing antiretroviral (ART) as prescribed by provider. Ensures completion of PAP forms to enable client to obtain Hepatitis treatment medication. Provides all necessary education on ART and Hepatitis treatment medication. Completes necessary authorization as indicated to correspond with Eligibility Determination Services as per Test and Treat protocol. Completes appropriate forms for processing prior authorization for medications as needed by Medicaid/Medicare, client’s health insurance or Patient Assistance Programs. Provides case management as needed to assist clients to maintain continuity of care or completion of prescribed therapy.
Completes exit session for HIV and Hepatitis C clients including reviewing the medical record for pertinent lab values, diagnostic tests, and medical interventions prescribed and timing of next appointment. Ensures client has lab requisition if client prefers outside lab facility, and appropriate appointments for return visits. Recommends and encourages client to receive necessary immunizations. Counsels and provides instruction to the client and/or family members concerning disease process, prevention and treatment. Informs clients of abnormal lab and/or test results with instruction recommended by the practitioner. Completes Super Bill and enters services provided in Record Services in HMS. Escorts client with Super Bill to cashier. Calls medication orders for clients to pharmacies under the direction of the practitioner. Administers medications and vaccines (oral or injectable) as ordered by clinician or written protocols. Assists clinician as indicated with exams and minor procedures. Provides HIV pretest and post- test counseling, completes HIV Annual update. Receives and returns patient/physician calls.
Performs other related duties as assigned when appropriate to job classification to include working where assigned at the time of a disaster. Attends HIV clinic monthly staff meetings.

- Florida Registered Nursing license
- American Heart CPR certification.
- HIV 500/501 Counseling and Testing certification
- Working knowledge of electronic charting.
- Must maintain access to FLShots
- Must maintain access to CareWare
- Must maintain access to state Pharmacy Forms System (PFS)
Qualifications:
Minimum-
Licensed in State of Florida as a Registered Nurse
Comfortable interviewing clients about their sexual health and social risk behaviors related to HIV, STI, and hepatitis
Comfortable working with clients from a diverse population
Preferred-
Experience providing case management
Phlebotomy experience
Experience obtaining medication prior authorizations
Bilingual Spanish / English
Experience with HIV and STI treatment
Experience giving injections
Knowledge of vaccine administration and Florida Shots
Experience interpreting lab reports
Mental health and drug abuse experience
