OPS- Human Resource Specialist

This advertisement is for a full-time OPS position located at Lowell Correctional Institution.
Hiring Rate: $21.19/hour
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The OPS Human Resource Specialist (HRS) assist the Field Office Manager (FOM) and Human Resource Consultant (HRC) with the human resources programs within the institution. The HRS will perform daily human resources task and assist the FOM and HRC with providing guidance to institutional managers and employees on human resource related issues.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the administration of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Workers Compensation Program. This may include, but not be limited to, processing request for FMLA, completion of timesheets and tracking and monitoring of leave.
- Assist and/or coordinates and supports recruitment and selection efforts. This may include, but not be limited to, submission of advertisement request, review and verification of recruitment and selection packets, processing employment verifications and submitting selection packets to the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for processing in a timely manner.
- Assist and/or coordinates employee fingerprinting, pre-employment drug testing and pre-employment physicals as part of the recruitment and selection process. This may include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting of new employees and verification of drug testing requirements.
- Assist with orientation of new employees and employees on-boarding.
- Assist and/or coordinates separation of employees and all associated processes.
- Assist with various accounting, purchasing and budget functions relating to institutional operations.
- Process, update and monitor various actions in the People First system to include, but not limited to, electronic Personnel Action Request (PAR), employee direct deposit compliance, drivers’ license data and assist employees with entering information.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the Kronos timekeeping system, works to ensure that schedules are correct, processing timesheets/reports as required.
- Serves as a point of contact for collection of human resources related documents and forwards documents to appropriate OHR or other Central Office section.
- Process, examine and reconcile weekly and monthly reports as required.

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma (or its equivalent)
- Minimum of two (2) years of human resources/personnel/customer service experience.
