High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

 

Additional requirements:

  • Applicant must have a current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance, as defined in FS 633.408 and 412.
  • Current State of Florida Instructor I or II certification as defined in 69A37.059.
  • Live Fire Training Instructor I or receive within one year or Fire Service Instructor II.
  • Six (6) years or more experience working in the Fire Service.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in evaluating an individual or group against a standard or guideline during skills training or examination.

 

Preferences:

  • Prior experience teaching Florida minimum standards curriculum.
  • Prior experience to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, or procedure.

 

Work location for this position is at the Florida State Fire College in Ocala, FL.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

This position is located at the Florida State Fire College in Ocala, Florida and will be filled at the annual base salary of $48,667.56.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and use of personal computer.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of firefighting and prevention.
  • Knowledge of the principles of personal safety and first aid.
  • Skill in use of firefighting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to firefighting training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to develop firefighter training and educational material.
  • Ability to evaluate personnel during skills examinations.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Perform as a Minimum Standards Field Examiner that includes the following:  schedule test dates with the training academy director / instructors, develop the practical examination for minimum standards recruits, conduct the practical examination, video each examination, schedule additional field representatives as required, score and record examination results in the Divisions database, scan all records onto the Bureaus I-drive, and upload all videos onto the One-drive.

 

Review applications for Live Fire Training Instructor I and II and Fire Instructor I.

 

Develop, review, and update Minimum Standards Performance Objectives and Skills Sheets used for Minimum Standards Practical Examination.

 

Perform annual training academy inspection that includes the following:  apparatus, tools, equipment, training aides, and buildings to assure compliance with the requirements for

certification for approval as a new firefighter recruit training facility or renewal of current firefighter recruit training facilities and perform related duties as required.

 

Additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
