Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for ensuring client visits are coded correctly by medical staff, ensure the insurance information is accurate and complete the billing of the encounter forms for the clinics.  The incumbent in this position

must have excellent data entry skills, ability to communicate with the public in a professional and polite manner, collect fees for services, set up payment plans, and a variety of other fiscal and clerical duties that require independent

judgement to accomplish. This position assists with scheduling client appointments and answering the phones in the clinic.  This position will be under the daily supervision of the Office Operations Manager.

 

Performs as the clinic(s) cashier and verifies/enters encounter form data in HMS daily, assuring that all services marked on the encounter forms are entered in the HMS billing system. Ensures that appropriate ICD 10 diagnosis codes and authorizations 

are included for billing purposes. Completes billing for each encounter form to the appropriate payor source. Encounter forms that are either $0 pay or the client has a share of cost will be entered and billed to the client. Collection of any other balance

on the account or arrangements set up with the clients to pay the balance due and maintain spreadsheet for tracking of payment plans. Issue a receipt to all clients as they exit the clinic.  It is the responsibility of the incumbent to reconcile encounter forms

daily from the check in reports and ensure that all encounter forms have been turned in and entered in HMS.  If an encounter form is missing, it must be located and processed daily. Responsible for daily cash drawer balancing. Ensures insurance

 information is correctly entered in HMS prior to checking out clients. If client(s) need to schedule their next appointment; it will be completed at time of check-out. Assist with phones in the clinics scheduling clients for appointments and their other needs,

on an as needed daily basis.

 

Completes all TITLE X trainings as required on an annual basis.  Processes Presumptive Eligibility Pregnant Woman (PEPW) applications upon check-out, as needed.

 

Participates in QI team(s) and prepares QI data/charts/spreadsheets, for production tracking.

 

Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor with adequate instruction.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to enter large quantities of medical coding date via computer, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to post, balance and reconcile fiscal records.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to organize and file materials.
  • Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to compile and maintain fiscal data.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
  • Skilled in typing or in the use of keyboard controlled data input devices.

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • 2 years of Data Entry experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum - 

6 months medical or dental billing experience.

6 months cashiering experience.

1 year customer service

 

Preferred - 

Bilingual 

Eligibility experience with DOH, DCF, or WIC
