Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent of this position is responsible for various complex accounting and fiscal functions in the billing department. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collect and post client payments, balancing cash drawer daily, research EOB's from insurance carriers, process refunds, corrective actions on misbilled clients, prepare monthly statements for organizations, assist with insurance denials, billing of clinical services to third party payors and clients, assisting with Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women (PEPW) application processing, following up on outstanding accounts receivables, provides back-up assistance to the clinic cashiers as needed, auditing of records billed and payments received as well as researching records to locate revenue that has been potentially lost. This position requires independent decision-making skills. The incumbent must establish and maintain a good working relationship with both co-workers and third-party payers. This person must be detail oriented and organized. Timelines must be adhered to. Skills required for this position include accountability and accuracy of information, good data entry skills, spelling, grammar and punctuation. This person will also be involved with QI/QA projects within the billing department. This person reports to the Office Operations Manager.
Prepares monthly statements to CHD local organizations. Posts/Uploads third party/insurance/organizational payments to billing hub and pulls EOB’s necessary for processing. Prepares cash drawer balancing information at the end of each day for billing hub employees and self.
Reviews and submits write-off and collection reports for approval and processing. Assist with monitoring and working all accounts receivable aging reports by making phone contact with clients that are pending collections for payment. Research billing opportunities monthly and follow-up on accounts researched. Ensures all refunds are tracked and are updated accordingly.
Primary reconciliation and biller for all Rabies vaccines and Immunizations departmental billing; working with EPI and Immunization’s department to ensure correct payor. Verifying that the entries are correct prior to saving the entries. Once the transactions have been entered in the billing system, the services are to be billed to the correct payor source.
Provides back-up and assistance to other billing staff to ensure billing is complete within designated timeframes. This includes all other clinical billing. Cross training for all departments.
Primary cashier for clients at window 5 or clients calling in to make payments. Back up cashier in the clinics as needed. Performs as the clinic(s) cashier and verifies encounter form data in HMS daily assuring that all services checked on the encounter forms are entered in the HMS billing system. Ensures that appropriate ICD 10 diagnosis codes and authorizations are included for billing purposes. Completes billing for each encounter form to the appropriate payor source. Encounter forms that are either $0 pay or the client has a share of cost will be entered and billed to the client. Collection of daily visit amount and any other balance on the account or arrangements set up with the clients to pay the balance due. Issue a receipt to all clients as they exit the clinic. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to reconcile encounter forms daily from the check in reports and ensure that all encounter forms have been turned in and entered in HMS. If an encounter form is missing, it must be located and processed daily. Responsible for daily cash drawer balancing. Ensures insurance information is correctly entered in HMS prior to checking out clients. If client(s) need to schedule their next appointment, it will be completed at time of check-out.
Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor with adequate instruction and supervision.

Qualifications:
Minimum -
1 year billing experience in Medical or Dental facility.
1 year cashering/payment postings or collections experience, with cash drawer.
1 year insurance or EOB research experience.
Auditing of medical coding/charting experience.
Preferred -
Registration/Eligibility processing experience
Training experience
PEPW experience
