Your Specific Responsibilities:

Incumbent serves as a para-professional interviewing applicants in reference to their eligibility to receive services for Family Planning, STD, Specialty, Presumptive Eligible Pregnant Women (PEPW) Medicaid Program, Dental, Refugee Health, TB and other departments as needed. The goal of this position is to financially screen all applicants according to the guidelines established by the Primary Care Proposal protocol and Title X and the PEPW applicants according to the guidelines established by Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA).  This position includes but is not limited to answering phones, scheduling client appointments, triaging necessary call to the providers, checking in clients for clinic visits, ensuring the demographic and insurance information is updated at each visit, ensuring the financial information is updated on an annual basis prior to check-in, reminder calls, preparation of charts at check-in, various other clerical functions to ensure the front end of the clinic runs smooth and ensuring all needed forms are signed by the client as required by the clinic protocols. This is a rotating position between various departments (Registration, Family Planning/STD, Specialty Clinic and others if needed). Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Sr. Clerical Supervisor.

 

Interview applicants to determine eligibility for health department clinics, using in Health Management System (HMS).  Clients are requested to provide information regarding family income, size, third party payers, etc. to determine the reimbursement due for service rendered.  During the screening process, use the Change Health Care, Availability for various insurance and Medicare coverage, and Connect/Suntax systems for financial income information.  Maintains the necessary files and records for the clients being processed and will scan all client financial documents and attach in HMS as part of the client record. Schedule client appointments.

 

Full cross training with all related clinics (Registration, Family Planning/STD, Specialty) and others as needed.

 

Performs other related duties as requested by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum - 

6 months of customer service experience

6 months of experience working in an office/clerical setting

 

Preferred -

6 months working front office in a medical/dental facility

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
