Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame
  • Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster
  • Completes mandatory trainings within the required timeframe, as deemed necessary by the Department, the Delegated Authority, grant requirements and/or Florida Statutes.
  • Certification in CPR and First aid is required to be maintained
  • Identifies the purpose of the client’s visit, reviews the current health history and documents data on the correct forms. Examines the client and documents the physical findings on the appropriate forms and in accordance with medical protocols. Establishes presumptive medical diagnosis. Plans and initiates treatment and seeks medical supervision in accordance with medical protocols. Monitors and coordinates referrals for abnormal findings.  Documentation is complete and accurate; reflects services provided.  Prepares reports related to personal health programs.  Utilizes EHR.
  • Provides direct patient care of family planning, sexually transmitted disease refugee health and communicable disease clients (both male and female) for health maintenance by performing a complete screening physical examination techniques with specific emphasis on evaluation of breast, abdomen and pelvis with visualization of the cervix.  Obtains papanicolaou smear and cervical culture and performs bi-manual vaginal and rectovaginal examinations. 
  • Within established protocols, monitors medications and initiates appropriate therapies for certain conditions and alters medications according to variations in a patient’s response.  Fits patients for diaphragms; inserts/removes intra-uterine devices; manages patients on oral contraceptive; injectable and transdermal contraceptives, performs colposcopy and cryotherapy, if certified; inserts/removes implanon if trained.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum-

Currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

Ability to develop a treatment plan and interpret diagnostic tests

Current Certification for CPR and First Aid

Experience in disease management and treatment

Be able to explain any work experience with sexually transmitted diseases and contraceptive methods.

 

Preferred-

Bilingual ability Spanish / English

Knowledge to recognize situations in which intervention is needed to improve outcomes or prevent harm

Ability to perform procedures in at the Family Planning Clinic that includes IUDs insertion and removal and / colposcopy

Documents appripriate client visit summaries in the electronic medical record

Recognize and manages abnormal findings as prescribed under medical protocol
