This position is 24-32 hours per week.


This position requires that you have a clear and active license to practice dentistry in the State of Florida.


Preference will be given to individuals who have an active DEA and an active Medicaid license for the State of Florida with no violations against either. Prefer experience working in Department of Health in Dentistry.

- Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame


- Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster


- Completion of all mandatory or assigned trainings within the required time frame


- Daily duties:

•Certified by the Florida State Board of Dentistry to practice dentistry.

•Maintains a clear and active DEA license.

•Complete and maintain CPR certification for emergency situations and perform CPR if indicated.

•Follow Medicaid rules for the practice of dentistry as explained by the Health Department personnel.

•Will review the medical history of every patient and obtain medical consultations as necessary to assure safe, quality care.

•Will diagnose dental needs using appropriate X-Rays and clinical exams and record findings.

•Will perform head and neck exams and record findings.

•Will treat low-income patients who are eligible as per the Florida Department of Health guidelines.

•Will perform preventive procedures such as silver diamine application, restorative procedures (composites, amalgams, pulpotomies, crowns, space maintainers) and extractions on mainly children and some adults per dental clinic guidelines.

•Will treat the number of patients assigned in an efficient and caring manner.

•Will chart findings, clinical exams, treatment plan and complete progress notes per dental clinic policy in Eaglesoft oral health record.

•Will review and sign the encounter form and correlate to the dental progress notes.

•Will prescribe medications as necessary under the guidelines of the Florida Board of Dentistry, DEA, Department of Health and the dental clinic.

•Will refer patients who are beyond their scope of practice or capabilities of the dental clinic or its staff.

•Will inform the patient/guardian and the dental director of any untoward experience and document in the patient’s chart as per Health Department guidelines.

•Will arrange appropriate follow up care as needed for the incident.

•Will follow OSHA guidelines and the infection control and hazardous material policies of the Florida Department of Health and the dental clinic.

•Will be working with Marion County Health Department employees and CF dental assisting students.

•Will to conform to the guidelines of the dental clinic allowing the students to assist as their training progresses

•Will provide exams, cleanings, fluoride, oral hygiene instructions and silver diamine fluoride to Head Start children and other school based programs.

•Will review teledentistry intraoral photos and complete exam charting and notes for the school based program.

•Will actively participate in office meetings

•Will inspect and approve all dental lab work before sending to the lab and upon return from the lab

•Will provide an after hours emergency number to be reached in case of an emergency

•Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds.
