SPECIAL NOTES:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Additional requirements:
- Must be physically able to climb stairs, climb a ladder, reach overhead, work from heights, bend at the waist, kneel and crouch, be able to work near loud noises and work on or around electrical equipment, tight spaces, and on rooftops.
- Prolong periods of time walking, standing, bending climbing, and exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
- The ability to lift 40 pounds for a short period of time.
- A valid driver’s license.
Preference:
- Prior maintenance experience
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position is located in Ocala, Florida at the Fire College.
The salary is $16.00 per hour at 40 hours per week.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
-Knowledge of proper groundskeeping procedures and ability to run mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and other small engine equipment.
-Knowledge and operation of computer applications. i.e. Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook.
-Skilled in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
-Ability to lift 40 lbs.
-Ability to do physical labor that requires standing, bending, and lifting.
-Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship.
-Integrity, communication, respect, accountability, teamwork.
-Operate a computer to create and respond to work orders, enter time worked and leave requests.
-Maintain a professional appearance, build and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, students and Supervisors.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
-Perform minor mechanical repairs on buildings.
-Maintain outside grounds to include mowing, leaf removal, weed remediation and general upkept of grounds.
-Branch and tree removal.
-Perform fire extinguisher and AED inspections.
-Operate a computer to create and respond to work orders, enter time worked and leave requests.
-Skilled in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
-Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
-Perform minor carpentry repairs.
-Plumbing duties to include unclogging toilets, urinals, and drains. Isolations of leaks when required.
-Electrical duties to include resetting of circuit breakers, replacing receptacles and switches.
-Assist with housekeeping on a limited basis.
-Digging holes as needed to repair UG wiring and piping.
-Investigate complaints in dorm rooms and take corrective action.
-Paint rooms and exterior equipment.
