Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be physically willing and able to climb stairs, climb a ladder, reach overhead, work from heights, bend at the waist, kneel and crouch, be able to work near loud noises and work on or around electrical equipment, tight spaces, and on rooftops.
  • Prolonged periods of time walking, standing, bending climbing, and exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds for a short period.

 

Preference:

  • Prior maintenance experience.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of groundskeeping procedures and the ability to run mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and other small engine equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
  • Skilled in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship.
  • Ability to oversee personnel for landscaping and repair work.

 

OTHER KSAs (Incumbent may learn on job)

  • Knowledge and operation of computer applications. i.e. Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to operate equipment to include Front end loader/backhoe and telehandler forklift.

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

This position is located at the Fire College in Ocala Florida.

   

The salary for this position is $17.25 per hour at 29 hours per week.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. 

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Perform fire extinguisher and AED inspections.
  • Paint rooms, hallways, bathrooms, and exterior equipment.
  • Branch and small tree removal.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs on buildings.
  • Plumbing duties to include unclogging toilets, urinals, and drains. Isolations of leaks when required.
  • Electrical duties include resetting circuit breakers, replacing receptacles and switches.
  • Perform minor carpentry repairs.
  • Investigate complaints in dorm rooms and take corrective action.
  • Assist with housekeeping on a limited basis.
  • Assist with digging holes as needed to repair UG wiring and piping.
  • Work with others to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Operate a computer to create and respond to work orders, enter time worked and leave requests.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, build and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, students and supervisors.
