Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for assistance to the audit services leadership team and auditors with ensuring audits are conducted, documented, and assessed in accordance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), the International Registration Plan Agreement (IRP), the related audit manuals, and internal policy and procedure.  In addition, this position will provide education focused on ensuring taxpayers and registrants are reporting distance and fuel properly, which includes the conduct of records reviews.  The function also involves written reports and communication of review findings to taxpayers as well as to auditors and immediate supervisors.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of numbers, their operations and interrelationships including one or more of the following: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards. 
  • Ability to review, analyze and evaluate financial data.
  • Ability to manipulate and evaluate large data files produced both electronically and hard copy.
  • Ability to analyze data for compliance with standards.
  • Skilled in reviewing written reports, schedules and evidence for grammar, consistency and compliance.
  • Skilled at clearly communicating technical information to customers both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Skilled in dealing with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience auditing, analyzing and verifying data or information for accuracy and regulatory compliance. 
  • Experience composing, drafting or preparing written reports of analysis. 
  • Experience verbally communicating analysis performed, assessment results, recommendations, etc. to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Professional customer service experience that includes handling escalated issues/situations.
  • Experience working in and using Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
