Your Specific Responsibilities:

Certifies clients in Sumter County (Bushnell and Wildwood) for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the State WIC Program and regulations stated in DHM 150-24.  Provides high and low risk nutrition education contacts as defined by agency policies. Travels to other outlying clinics as needed and maintains the same client service standards as in the main clinic.

 

Provides assessment, nutrition education, counseling and breastfeeding support using approved materials and format. Assists clients in setting goals for behavioral changes and evaluates client progress in meeting goals. Makes referrals as appropriate.

 

Correctly documents nutrition assessment and care plan in FL WiSE using SOAP or another approved format. Entries are completed the same day services are provided with the correct methods, titles, and user identification.  

 

Accurately completes reports and data entry into HS (EAR), People first, and the FL Wise system by required deadlines using the FL WISE manual and DHM 150-24 policies and procedures.

 

Participates in preparation and presentation of newsletter, bulletin boards, in-services training, and other activities as assigned by supervisor. May be required to present nutrition programs to healthcare professionals and community organizations.

 

Provides service to clients in an efficient manner to assure smooth clinic flow and even caseload distribution among nutrition staff. Adheres to department policies for sanitation, safety, phone and computer use.

 

Attends and participates in staff meetings, and professional and staff development activities. Completes required states and WIC training as evidence by completion certificates or TRAIN transcript.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.  May be required to use personal vehicle for transportation to assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the science and current practice of food and nutrition, dietetics or food service.
  • Knowledge of normal nutrition principles and food needs throughout the life cycle. 
  • Ability to provide nutrition education to others in groups or individual instruction. 
  • Ability to determine nutritional needs and develop nutrition education plans for individuals who are not at medical high nutritional risk. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. 
  • Ability to use computers, printer, copier and fax machine.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for this position.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM-

Bachelor of science Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics

Valid Driver License

Current / Active Florida License as a Dietitian / Nutritionist

Experience completing nutrition counseling, assessments and writing nutrition care plans

 

PREFERRED

WIC experience

Experience working FL WISE

Bilingual
