Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position serves as a Senior Reporting Analyst in the Program Performance Unit of the Bureau of Labor Market Statistics’ Data Services Section, supporting Workforce Services and all Department program areas.
Serves as a project lead on the Data Services Report Modernization Project (RMP) team, providing insight into business logic and rules and ideas for project efficiencies. As a project lead, employee is responsible for project planning, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks and deliverables, and ensuring that project team priorities align with business needs. Examines and maps business processes to develop efficiencies to consolidate and increase the effectiveness of reporting and make recommendations and action plans for leadership based on findings.
Responsible for ensuring continuity of operations (COOP) for all Program Performance Unit processes, including maintaining detailed work-paper records of assumptions, methodologies, coding notation and information sources utilized during the performance of all analytical tasks. Prepare and issue instructions and process maps concerning generation, completion, and distribution of reports according to new or revised practices, procedures, or policies of reports management.
Coordinates with Program Performance Manager, Data Services Administrator, and other leadership team members to provide continuous project status updates and operational enhancement recommendations.
Responsible for preparation and delivery of training to team members and program area staff on relevant reporting tools and processes.
Responsible for the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of operational datasets and the preparation, analysis, maintenance and delivery of reports and reporting systems to business stakeholders, using standard productivity tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and advanced tools including Tableau, SQL, and Alteryx.
Collaborates with program area staff on data projects, process improvements, and general business needs, helping to interpret business requirements and develop them into viable reporting tools and processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Workforce Services program areas, including Reemployment Assistance, Labor Market Statistics, and One Stop Program Support.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection, analysis and storage.
- Skill in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau.
- Knowledge of process mapping techniques
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflows, and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
- Ability to learn and incorporate new software tools.
- Ability to conduct fact finding research.
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, policies, and procedures relating to operational management analysis activities.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to travel.
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
