YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.This position with the Orange County WIC Program is primarily responsible for supervision of the WIC Call Center which handles all incoming call for the 32,000 WIC enrollments with an average 500-600 phone calls each day.

Monitors performance metrics for the WIC Call Center. Obtains demographic and health data through telephone with current and potential WIC Program participants and inputs client information into the WIC system. Provides information regarding income eligibility to potential WIC program participants based on federal and state income guidelines and procedures. Schedules appointments for participants/potential participants through the WIC appointment system. Answers questions regarding access to WIC program services. Refers participants to appropriate health department services, other state programs and/or to applicable community agencies and organizations. Performs follow-up activities regarding referrals for WIC program services and for missed WIC program certification appointments. Instructs participant, parent/guardian in the proxy procedure, certification periods, and appointment policies. Instructs participant, parent/guardian in the redemption process of WIC Program checks and notifies participants of their rights and responsibilities as a WIC program participant.Maintains and orders the WIC agency’s supply of forms, pamphlets and literature and distributes to sites as needed. Attends and participates in staff development and training and required in-service training sessions, as well as regularly scheduled departmental staff meetings. Performs the duties and responsibilities of absent support staff at assigned duty station. Prepares and submits bi-weekly reports of time and services provided. Prepares request for travel reimbursement and submits according to pre-established departmental procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.Whenever possible, the determination of income eligibility and/or nutrition risk eligibility and issuance functions must be separate in order to insure program integrity as stated in DHM 150-24, page 3-1, section 3-2. |

Ability to be flexible. Possess excellent computer skills including knowledge of MS Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. MS Window, Internet Explorere, People First, HMS, and WIC.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A current Florida Department of Health employee
- One year experience interviewing experience in healthcare or social service agency.
- One year experience training others.
- One year professional work experience performing bookkeeping, accounting and/or inventory management work.
- One year professional customer service experience in a health or social service agency.
- One year verifiable experience monitoring employees’ performances.
- One year professional experience leading a team and resolving complex issues.
- One year of administrative working experience.
- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment.
