ADVERTISING/WORKING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Florida Reception Center in the Classification Department.

Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

• Reviews commitment documents to ensure sentences comply with laws and court decisions, adjusts sentence data, and verifies release date calculations for accuracy.
• Communicates with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriff's Offices, and Clerks of the Court to resolve discrepancies in commitment documents and ensure accurate sentence instructions.
• Ensures that all sentence structures and mandatory provisions are correctly entered into the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and that appropriate documents are printed for inmate files.
• Reviews new commitments to determine if they need a new inmate number or can be added to an existing one, makes necessary changes to records, and updates release dates if needed.
• Informs the Central Office of any changes affecting inmate commitments, whether due to court orders or new commitments received, and ensures proper documentation and accountability.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
