STARTING SALARY: 1,588.86 bi-weekly. (In accordance with the current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into this position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.) 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Coordinates the regional training calendar to maximize efficiency.  Focuses on using the Circuit Field Training Coordinators to create a network across the region/state to cover training gaps and ensure quick and efficient training of all staff.  Monitors training plans and SkillPro for the Central Region.  Provides trainings as approved by Regional Director and requested by the Chief Probation Officer as qualified for which may include the following but is not limited to: Human Trafficking Staff Training (HTST); Suicide Prevention; Detention Risk Assessment Instrument (DRAI/DSI); Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ First Aid, Protective Action Response (PAR/RI) direct care trainings. These trainings may be related to Master Instructor, Train the Trainer or subject matter expert trainings provided by the Office of Staff Development & Training (SD&T) or other entities or for adjunct training requirements to provide support from the region to the circuits

Provide data, analysis and reports to the Regional Director to assist in monitoring and enhancing the performance of the Probation units in accomplishing the mission and goals of the department.  Reports could include SNAP referral tracking, comprehensive evaluation tracking, ISP tracking, and other weekly and monthly tracking reports as needed.

Tracks monitoring and deficiency identification for programs/facilities – reviews supplemental compliance monitoring summaries and annual compliance reports for programs/providers; assists program/provider with the development of Outcome Based Corrective Action Plans (OBCAP) as applicable, when deficiencies are identified; assists the program/provider in root cause identification processes, outcome measures and action steps, as well as anticipated corrective action date and person(s) responsible; receives and reviews corrective action plans to determine plan appropriateness. Track and communicate OBCAP progress and completion dates to Departmental entities and track monitoring activities to include verification monitoring and follow up through completion; responsible for approving program/provider OBVAP once complete and submitted within the Program Monitoring and Management (PMM) systems database; documenting OBCAP closure and review of verification monitoring reports/summaries; collaborates with assigned shared service program monitor for verification monitoring when required; follows given timelines for follow up, organized tasks and responds in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.; notifies supervisor of any potential problems.

Provide technical assistance when applicable for programs and facilities- conducts site visits to ensure integrity and compliance with Florida Statutes, Administrative Rule, Departmental policies and procedures and terms and conditions of contact(s); observe, evaluates, and assesses program effectiveness; recommends corrective actions following monitoring activities that identify program deficiencies; provides on going technical assistance and guidance to providers/programs to include but not limited to consultation on policies and procedures/Administrative Rule that effect program functions; liaison between programs and various branches of the Department (i.e. Facility Services, Contract Administration, Bureau of Monitoring and Quality Improvement, Office of the Inspector General/Central Communications Center, etc.); prepares documentation/reports after site visits and technical assistance when applicable; maintains telephone contacts with the program on a regular basis to promote effective information sharing, good communication and provide technical assistance when needed; performs, participates and contributes in pre and post operational reviews for providers/programs; advises appropriate administrative and programmatic staff of problems or potential problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of FDJJ Administrative Rule, policies and procedures related to operations

Knowledge in risk factors for delinquency, assessment and evidence-based treatment and practices.

Knowledge in Implementation and Sustainability Planning Processes. Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of adult learning.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to provide clear and precise directions.

Ability to gather and organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.

Ability to work independently and to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to assess training needs.  Ability to use desktop computers, including the Microsoft (MS) operating system, and the MS office software suite.

Ability to use Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).

Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to travel throughout the state on short notice as needs arrive on short notice.

Skill in building interpersonal relationships through training, coaching and mentoring others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required for this position 

A valid driver’s license is required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University.

Preference will be given to candidates who are currently or were previously employed with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience gathering and organizing data to create and maintain administrative reports, presentations and other documents or written materials.

Preference will be given to those candidates who have the ability to work independently, plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments.

Preference will be given to those candidates who are/were certified as an Instructor Techniques Trained via the Department approved course.

SPECIAL NOTES: 

This position is required to maintain CPR and First Aid Certifications throughout employment. All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background checks, (state, local and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions.

A valid driver’s license is required. If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver’s license within 30 days of hire. 985.66 Florida Statute Requirement

Be at least 19 years of age.

Be a high school graduate or its equivalent as determined by the department.

Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person, who after September 30, 1999, pleads guilty or no lo contendere to or is found guilty of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement is not eligible for employment, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.  Notwithstanding this subparagraph, any person who plead no lo contendere to a misdemeanor involving a false statement before October 1, 1999, and who has had such record of that plea sealed or expunged is not ineligible for employment for that reason.

Abide by all provisions of s. 985.644 (1), regarding fingerprinting and background investigations and other screening requirements for personnel.

Execute and submit to the department an affidavit-of-application form, adopted by the department, attesting to his or her compliance with sub paragraphs 1-4. The affidavit must be executed under oath and constitutes an official statement under s. 837.06. The affidavit must include conspicuous language that the intentional false execution of the affidavit constitutes a misdemeanor of the second degree. The employing agency shall retain the affidavit.
