- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, economics, or risk management. A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Economics, Finance, or Accounting may be used as an alternative for years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
- One (1) year experience conducting audits or examinations of financial documents.
- Ability to follow directions and complete task(s) assigned in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must have the ability to operate a computer and be knowledgeable in the use of various spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic accounting or auditing principles; Knowledge of the methods of compiling, analyzing, and presenting data; Knowledge of monitoring techniques; Knowledge of basic mathematics; Knowledge of Chapter 497; Ability to review, analyze and evaluate data; Ability to examine financial records; Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Ability to conduct research and prepare reports; Ability to probe and obtain critical facts; Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to recognize the validity, authenticity and propriety of accounting and operating records; Ability to work independently.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Approximately 75-100% of this job will require travel. A valid driver’s license is required. Occasional overnight travel is often required. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
The salary range for this position is $38,264.07 - $84,533.60. The starting salary is expected to be at or near the minimum base range, commensurate with experience.
Employees are paid based on monthly pay cycle (40 hours per week).
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
If applicable, (Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.)
- This position will be responsible for the following in reference to Chapter 497, Florida Statutes:

- Conduct simple, regulatory compliance examinations and assist with complex examinations as directed
- Conduct regulatory inspections and complaint investigations as directed
- Comply with the mandatory annual and other inspection schedules for licensees and developed examination schedules
- Review and analyze reports and documents submitted by licensees, trustees, accountants and others
- Maintain records on inspections, examinations, and investigations
- Assist in scheduling compliance examinations and/or inspections as directed

- Answer questions and inquiries from the public or licensees relative to the statutes or established policies and procedures.
- Assist with consumer services outreach presentations involving chapter 497.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
