MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) months of verifiable experience working with adult HIV/STD clients or outpatient in a medical setting
- Six (6) months of verifiable customer service experience in a clinical setting.
- Verifiable experience working with Electronic Medical Records to document patient information.
- Willing and able to report to the office daily to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

- Willing to perform emergency duty during disasters before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Bilingual. Fluent in English and Spanish or Creole.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides routine, personal healthcare in a facility under the direction of a licensed health care practitioner. This position is supervised by the Community Health Nursing Consultant in an ambulatory care setting at the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Sunshine Care Center (SCC) at Florida Department of Health in Orange County (FDOH-Orange). This position will also take directions from Senior Physicians, Medical Director, and the Program Manager. The incumbent must have a good rapport with staff and clients, positive attitude, is flexible, approachable and accepts change readily as evidenced by lack of substantiated complaints/confrontations with staff and clients. Promote the department as a positive, caring community organization through courteous behavior toward all clients and co-workers. Adhere to Department policies and procedures. The Health Support Technician (HST) position in SCC is expected to have continuous communication with clients, staff and providers to ensure a maximum client flow within the clinical setting. This position will in a team approach to promote the SCC’s Patient Centered Care Team model for patient care and clinic function.
HST duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepare patient documents/records in advance of appointments, including obtaining client results and reports.
Takes vital signs, height and weight, conducts routine laboratory tests per physicians’ orders. Follows directions of licensed healthcare practitioners/providers. Collects and records health information and services performed. Provide support for Registered Nurses (RNs) including screening, intake, assessments, referrals, follow-up with clients. Order labs through e-lab or other participating labs for Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP), Medicare, Medicaid, AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and Medicare Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Ensures patients’ continuity of medical care. Prepares and cleans patients’ rooms.
Enters, transcribes, records, stores, and maintains information in either written form or electronic/magnetic recording. Calibrates and maintains equipment as directed. Communicating with persons outside the organization, representing the organization to clients, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged face-to-face, in writing, or via telephone/electronic transfer. Keep exam room clean and ready for use, including stocked with appropriate supplies. Assists clients with scheduling follow-up and support services appointments (e.g. ADAP, Eligibility, etc.)
Duties involved with medical records, responses to record requests, scanning, etc. Complete all necessary employee activity records (EARs), client service records (CSRs), State and locally approved forms necessary for reimbursement, and tracking of services.
Required to attend and participate in SCC Program meetings, staff meetings, in-services, workshops, seminars, and other meetings as delegated and performs other duties as requested.
