The Work You Will Do:
Maintenance Program Manager – District Five / Orlando Operations
This position will perform highly advanced maintenance and transportation engineering duties responsible for the administration of management activities for the maintenance program at an Operations Center. Oversee and direct maintenance field operations, trades, shop and warehouse work groups. Motivates, trains, coaches and guides subordinate employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed while conducting work activities. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Recommends production planning, scheduling and control methods. Formulates and recommends safe work procedures, and develops new, innovative and improved work methods. Performs the duties of the Operations Engineer during his absence as required, answers correspondence of a general nature and ensures all documents meet Department rules and policies. Investigates complaints and resolves within Department policy and procedures. Serves on a regular basis as liaison with the public on matters concerning state maintained roads and bridges and to city, county and other state agencies on maintenance problems, and other matters as they arise.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Performs highly advanced maintenance and transportation engineering duties responsible for the administration of management activities for the maintenance program at an Operations Center. Oversee and direct maintenance field operations, trades, shop and warehouse work groups. Motivates, trains, coaches and guides subordinate employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed while conducting work activities. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Recommends production planning, scheduling and control methods. Formulates and recommends safe work procedures, and develops new, innovative and improved work methods. Performs the duties of the Operations Engineer during his absence as required, answers correspondence of a general nature and ensures all documents meet Department rules and policies. Investigates complaints and resolves within Department policy and procedures. Serves on a regular basis as liaison with the public on matters concerning state maintained roads and bridges and to city, county and other state agencies on maintenance problems, and other matters as they arise.
Coordinates the Emergency Management Program of the unit. Ensures proper resources are assigned and accounted for during natural disasters and other emergency situations. Ensures cost accounting measures are followed and properly documented to maximize the potential for reimbursement from federal partners. In addition, coordinates the units Occupational, Health and safety and Hazardous Material Programs.
Identifies, plans, and coordinates general facility maintenance, Fixed Capital Outlay Projects, and other miscellaneous facility projects. Performs reviews, researches, and plans implementation of repairs and improvements to facilities.
Oversees the supervision and direction of in-house work crews to ensure the maximum use of time and resources are safely achieved to include setting of priorities for highway maintenance crews, labor crews and heavy equipment operations that perform routine maintenance activities. Monitors the Maintenance Rating Program reports and takes action to ensure all elements and characteristics meet Department standards. Monitors daily crew reports to ensure accuracy of information provided and that the timesheet information is in accordance with current procedures.
Coordinates field work activities with contract and permit personnel to deliver seamless maintenance activities. Identifies work locations suitable for maintenance contracts and coordinates with others as necessary to accomplish maintenance activities through contracting means. Oversees all activities performed by the vehicle maintenance and repair facility and warehouse. Ensures that all modifications, repairs and preventative maintenance services performed on the Department fleet are properly completed and documented. Ensures current warehousing procedures are followed.
Prepares budget requests and monitors budget allocations as well as reviews and approves purchasing activity for the maintenance program components as assigned by the Operations Engineer. Directs and implements cost control programs.

- Communicate technical engineering information verbally and in writing to all audiences.
- Interpret and apply state, federal policies, guidelines, regulations, and other required documents relating to engineering issues.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
- Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must respond to emergencies. Obtain certification in Work Zone Traffic Control and Maintenance – Advanced within one year and maintain it.
