The Work You Will Do:
Planning Specialist II/Turnpike Enterprise/Transportation Development/Planning
This position will represent Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise at various public meetings. Serves as a liaison with MPO’s, the community and other stakeholders to communicate well researched, timely and accurate responses for questions about Turnpike projects and funding.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), county/city commissions, local FDOT districts, and other groups. Determine and schedule meeting attendance independently. Attend and participate in meetings as the Turnpike’s representative – including presenting the annual update of the Five-Year Work Program. Coordinate the inclusion of Turnpike project priorities into local government land use and transportation plans. Review transportation plans and programs and prepare proposed amendments, if necessary, to reflect the Turnpike Work Program.
Serve as liaison between the Turnpike Planning Office and the Office of Policy Planning for Central Office’s transportation planning activities. Review and analyze internal and external reports and identify impacts to Turnpike plans and programs.
Prepare and conduct presentations for public information meetings, formal public hearings, and other local government board and committee meetings. Attend project public meetings and represent the Turnpike while interacting with elected and appointed officials, local government staff, and members of the public. Prepare correspondence in response to requests from elected or appointed officials, local government staff, the public and others. Prepare written reports, technical memoranda, and planning studies. Direct consultant staff to provide technical information or presentations, review and approve the consultant’s work, and coordinate the scheduling and presentation of the information.
Maintain current knowledge of Turnpike plans, programs, system of roadways, tolling methods, and policies including Work Program and project priorities. Maintain current knowledge of FDOT plans, programs and policies.
Serves in times of emergency to support state response efforts and ensure continuity of operations.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
